Blog Smog

Shut in bloggers everywhere face the problems of Blog Smog…don’t let it happen to you! A greenish, ghoulish Blogger stars in Dentyne’s mini-website. Working with McCann, I helped develop a gritty, lo-fi direction for Blog Smog web advertising. The campaign involved a minute long video piece as well as web banners done in the style. McCann also got custom t-shirts printed with our graphics on them. The video portion was also accepted into the Annecy animation festival’s Official Selection.

Helado Negro - 2° Dia

From Helado Negro's Asthmatic Kitty LP ‘Canta Lucheza’, ‘2º Dia’ is a music video I (Santa Maria) directed from concept to finish with production assistance from Hornet Inc. Overall, the piece encapsulates a floaty, subdued sentiment. The camera starts and ends painfully close to Roberto Lange (the artist) while slowly zooming throughout the film. The result is a soothing sense of connection with Roberto. When released, it was posted on various blogs including npr.org, and stereogum.com

The Decemberists - Here Come the Waves

In conjunction with Flux and Hornet, I helped create a unique concert event, Here Come the Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized, for The Decemberists album, The Hazards of Love. We worked on one of four sections while loose theme of the seasons was agreed on as a jumping off point for each of the four. During the concert, the band played the entire album continuously as the visuals for each section were projected. The piece was used behind the band as a permanent asset in their ‘The Hazards of Love’ traveling show.

BiJules Greenbox Project

Mother, in collaboration with Bijules aka Jules Kim, worked together to create a new interactive piece for Beck’s Green Box Project. Bijules, a New York City based jewelry designer known for her imaginative, edgy work, was chosen as one of the artists to contribute a piece.

Jules Kim approached Santa Maria (Josh and I) to make a piece that would match the spirit of her line.  Starring the designer herself, Jules is seen bathed in gold–add to it a liberal sprinkling of gold dust and dancing gold fingers adorned with the designer’s jewelry for a magical mood setting piece. To view pieces commissioned by Beck’s Green Box Project you need the app and a smartphone or tablet. Once you track down a Beck’s Green Box you can access the artworks that have been made by artists from around the world with the Green Box app. The Bijules Green Box Project is located at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, CA.
